(Re) Lodgement of Application for Complying Development


Metricon has advised us that they are planning to lodge tomorrow an application for Complying Development Certificate (CDC) with Local Certification Services (Local Group). As the certifiers have seen our paperwork on our previous design, and our current design is almost the same however with a slightly smaller footprint, Metricon hopes to obtain approval within a short period of time – let’s hope so!

I went to Wollongong City Council and completed an application for extension of our Road Opening Permit (to occupy footpath and access the stormwater during construction). Luckily, the Senior Construction Compliance Officer, who had provided the Consent when the application was lodged last time, was present at the Council, and I managed to get the answers to my queries.

For those of you at Brooks Reach who are required to obtain a road opening permit from Wollongong City Council, Mick Foley and Marissa Hando are few of the relevant authorities who can answer your queries. David Mott is one of the officers who provides the ultimate consent.

  1. Venkat; Why did you need to get an road opening permit? Does your builder tell you if this is required?
    I don't think we need one as construction has commenced.. I have never heard of it before.

      The Road opening permit is required because Metricon needs to excavate an area within the Council owned road reserve to access stormwater drainage connection. During our Preliminary Contract signing, we were informed that the large size of our house (and other reasons which I do not exactly remember) meant that the amount of water expected to discharge away is high, and therefore an effective stormwater disposal system to Hydraulic Engineers details, is required as per Council conditions.

      I vaguely remember that when the total volume of water discharged from a site exceeds or does not exceed a certain volume of water per second, it may be discharged into the street gutter by means of one or more pipes...I think that is what this stormwater disposal is all about, but I may have misunderstood.

    I have taken a photo of our stormwater pit, and I will post it on the Homeone forum site as soon as i figure out how to do it. I read your post on using ImageShack...so, I'll get on with it sometime todday.

      For your house build, how many days from the day of your site start did Metricon access the stormwater pit? Were you required to spend any more money other than the road opening application fee? If yes, can you please share your insights? Cheers.
